Poland agricultural accident rates decline according to KRUS
Data from the Agricultural Social Insurance Fund (KRUS) shows a continuous decline in agricultural accidents in Poland. In the first half of 2026, 4,284 accidents were reported, representing a 3% decrease compared to the same period in 2025. Since 2022, the number of reported incidents has dropped significantly from nearly 6,000 to current levels.
Despite the downward trend, the reports highlight serious safety concerns. During the first six months of 2026, there were 21 fatal accidents and 6 cases of total incapacity for self-existence. The primary causes of injury identified include falls (49.2%), incidents involving animals (13.1%), and contact with moving machine parts (10.7%).
As the harvest season intensifies, authorities are warning farmers about the dangers of fatigue, heat, and lack of rest. Factors such as dehydration and exhaustion can impair concentration and reaction times, increasing the risk of accidents when operating machinery like combines and tractors.
