Poland agricultural market: Cattle price shifts and lower KOWR lease rates

The Polish agricultural sector is seeing fluctuations in livestock prices and changes to state land lease rates. As of August 7, 2026, cattle purchase prices show significant regional variation. While some facilities, such as ZM Wierzejki, reported increases for bulls and heifers in class O, others in the Podlaskie and Podkarpackie regions saw decreases of up to 2 PLN/kg for bulls and heifers.

Regarding land management, the Central Statistical Office (GUS) has set the wheat price for calculating KOWR lease rents for the first half of 2026 at 81.73 PLN per deciton. This rate is lower than both the second half of 2025 and the first half of 2025, representing a more favorable rate for farmers leasing state-owned land. The average rent for KOWR-leased land in the first quarter of 2026 was approximately 1,062 PLN per hectare.
