Poland allocates 320 million PLN for disability assistance services

The Polish Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy has announced a competition for personal assistance services for people with disabilities for 2027. The ministry has allocated 320 million PLN from the Solidarity Fund to non-governmental organizations. These organizations will provide assistance to help individuals with disabilities in daily activities, mobility, and social integration, as well as supporting educational and professional activities.

Eligibility for adults includes those with significant or moderate disability certificates. For children aged 2 to 16, specific medical and care requirements must be met. The current funding round is for NGOs, with applications being submitted via the Solidarity Fund Generator between September 21 and October 12. Individuals cannot apply directly to the ministry; they must wait for recruitment processes opened by the selected organizations.

In a separate development regarding disability policy, the ‘Nasz Rzecznik’ initiative and the ‘Godność i Wsparcie Drogą i Nadzieją’ movement have released their positions on proposed disability certification reforms. They are advocating for a centralized National Disability Certification Center to replace the current multi-track system, which they argue is costly and burdensome. They propose that certification should include medical, functional, and potential diagnoses to create flexible, individualized support packages.
