Poland and Brazil finalize social security agreement negotiations

Poland and Brazil have concluded negotiations for a social security agreement that would allow for the coordination of insurance periods and the transfer of pension and disability benefits between the two nations. The Polish Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy confirmed that internal procedures are currently underway to finalize the signing of the document.

The agreement aims to protect workers with careers spanning both countries by allowing them to combine insurance periods to establish eligibility for benefits. It is also intended to support businesses operating in both markets by preventing the need for simultaneous social security contributions for seconded employees. Additionally, the treaty aligns with the government's strategy for cooperating with the Polish diaspora and facilitates the transfer of Polish benefits to residents in Brazil.

Legal experts have called for a detailed impact assessment prior to ratification. Specifically, they suggest that the government should provide the full text of the agreement, an evaluation of regulatory consequences, and data regarding the number of people with dual insurance periods to determine the potential impact on the Polish minimum pension system.
