Poland and Italy discuss defense cooperation amid regional security concerns
Polish and Italian defense officials met in Warsaw to discuss bilateral security cooperation and the current geopolitical situation, particularly regarding Ukraine and Russian activities targeting NATO airspace. Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto emphasized that defending the eastern flank is a collective responsibility that benefits both nations. The discussions also covered defense industry cooperation and European Union initiatives to increase defense capabilities.
In a separate domestic development, Polish President Karol Nawrocki is scheduled to meet with Defense Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz and General Wiesław Kukuła to address the current security situation. This meeting follows recent Russian provocations near the Polish border, including drone strikes that damaged a locomotive on a Kyiv-Warsaw train near the Jagodzin station. The discussions aim to coordinate security institutions and establish systemic recommendations in response to these incidents.
