Poland announces agricultural grants and energy subsidy disputes

The Polish Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture (ARiMR) has opened a call for applications for investments in the processing and marketing of agricultural products. Running until September 30, the program offers over 624 million PLN in funding for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, as well as producer groups and cooperatives. Available grants range from 100,000 PLN to 10 million PLN, with reimbursements covering between 50% and 60% of eligible costs depending on whether the production is conventional or organic.

Separately, the meat industry has raised concerns regarding a proposed 4.8 billion PLN government program designed to lower electricity costs for energy-intensive industries between 2027 and 2030. Representatives from the meat processing and slaughtering sectors, including the Association of Butchers and Delicatessen Producers of Poland, argue that their industry has been excluded from the support framework. They warn that high energy costs without compensation could lead to a loss of competitiveness against European rivals and increased pressure on food prices.
