Poland announces Davis Cup squad for match against Australia

Poland's national tennis team captain Mariusz Fyrstenberg has announced the squad for the upcoming Davis Cup away match against Australia. The team will compete at the Pat Rafter Arena in Brisbane on September 19-20.

The selected players are Kamil Majchrzak, Maks Kaśnikowski, Jan Zieliński, Karol Drzewiecki, and Jan Sadzik. Fyrstenberg noted the intention to integrate younger players alongside experienced teammates. Notably, top singles player Hubert Hurkac will not participate due to injury management.

The match is a crucial step for Poland, as the winner will advance to the Davis Cup qualifying rounds for the 2027 finals. Australia enters the matchup as the favorite, currently ranked 8th in the ITF rankings, compared to Poland's 29th position. This marks the first time the two teams will face each other on Australian soil in the 126-year history of the competition.
