Poland announces free COVID-19 vaccination guidelines for 2026/2027 season

The Polish Ministry of Health has announced the guidelines for the 2026/2027 COVID-19 vaccination season. Vaccinations will be free of charge for individuals eligible for public health benefits, with costs for medical qualification and administration covered by the National Health Fund (NFZ).

For individuals aged 12 and older, a single dose of the Spikevax XFG vaccine will be administered. Children aged 5 to 11 will also receive a single pediatric dose. For children between 6 months and 4 years old, the vaccination schedule will depend on prior vaccinations or previous SARS-CoV-2 infections; those previously unvaccinated may require a two-dose regimen with at least a 28-day interval.

Patients with severe immunodeficiencies may receive an additional dose at a physician's discretion, provided there is at least a two-month interval from the previous dose. The Ministry recommends vaccination particularly for high-risk groups, including those over 60 (especially those over 75) and individuals with comorbidities such as diabetes, obesity, or chronic respiratory, renal, hepatic, and cardiovascular diseases.

Vaccinations will be available at primary care clinics and participating pharmacies. While patients can register directly at vaccination points, centralized electronic registration via the Internet Patient Account (IKP) and the mojeIKP application will be launched at a later date. No preliminary screening questionnaire is required for the procedure.
