Poland announces accelerated agricultural subsidies and new support programs
Polish agricultural authorities and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development have announced several support measures for farmers. A significant acceleration of direct payment advances is scheduled to begin on September 8, 2026, more than a month earlier than in previous years. This decision, led by Minister Stefan Krajewski, aims to improve financial liquidity amid economic difficulties and extreme weather impacts. Advances will be paid at a maximum level of 75% for direct payments and up to 85% for other specific payments, though they will be calculated using estimated rates due to the euro exchange rate.
Additionally, the Agency for Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture (ARiMR) is launching various funding opportunities. These include grants for creating or developing educational farms through the 'Trzy Krajobrazy' Local Action Group, and investments to mitigate ASF (African Swine Fever) risks, with support up to 100,000 PLN. The government is also working on additional financial aid for fertilizers and diesel to combat rising production costs.
Farmers are urged by ARiMR to verify their registered bank account numbers to ensure successful transfers. The government is also exploring legislative changes regarding excise tax refunds on diesel and protections against certain legal claims related to farm noise and odors.
