Poland fuel prices expected to rise as CPN program ends
Fuel prices in Poland are expected to rise significantly starting September 1 as the government's 'Ceny Paliwa Niżej' (CPN) program concludes. The program, which provided lower VAT rates (8% instead of 23%) and maximum price limits, was designed as a temporary measure and will not be extended due to budget constraints.
Analysts from e-petrol.pl predict that 95 E10 gasoline could reach prices between 7.38 and 7.51 PLN per liter, while diesel is expected to cost between 8.19 and 8.33 PLN per liter. Other forecasts from reflex.com.pl suggest slightly different ranges, including 95 unleaded at 7.35 PLN/l and diesel at 8.09 PLN/l.
Minister of Energy Miłosz Motyka stated that the program was planned to end in August to accommodate budget priorities such as defense, infrastructure, and health. He noted that the final two weeks of the CPN package alone cost the state budget approximately 500 million PLN, with the entire program costing around 5 billion PLN.
