Poland approves 21 general nominations for military leadership

Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced that President Karol Nawrocki has accepted and Prime Minister Donald Tusk has countersigned 21 general nominations. These appointments are scheduled to be presented during the celebrations for Polish Armed Forces Day this Saturday.

Kosiniak-Kamysz noted that the agreement between the President and the Prime Minister demonstrates necessary cooperation in military leadership. However, the Defense Minister also called for similar cooperation regarding the leadership of intelligence and security services. He specifically recommended promotions for Colonel Dorota Kawecka (head of Military Intelligence Service), Colonel Rafał Syrysko (head of the Internal Security Agency), and Colonel Paweł Szota (head of Foreign Intelligence Agency).

While the request for Colonel Kawecka’s promotion has been submitted to the President, it has not yet been processed. Kosiniak-Kamysz expressed hope for a ‘professional approach’ from the President’s Chancellery, citing the services' recent successes in thwarting Russian intelligence activities and preventing acts of diversion.
