Poland: Authorities urge vigilance as temperatures drop for homeless populations

As nighttime temperatures decrease, emergency services and social organizations in Poland are reporting increased demand for warming centers and shelters. In Lublin, the St. Brother Albert Mercy Brotherhood reported high occupancy rates, with 20 out of 30 places filled during a recent night. The facility provides warm meals and overnight stays, though some individuals remain for the duration of the autumn and winter seasons.

Authorities are appealing to the public to remain vigilant, particularly regarding elderly, disabled, or intoxicated individuals who may be at risk of hypothermia. Citizens are encouraged to report people in unsuitable living conditions by calling the emergency number 112 or using the National Security Threat Map. Police are also conducting patrols in areas such as abandoned buildings and garden allotments to identify those in need and provide information on available aid organizations.
