Poland awards 200,000 zloty to student projects and 26 million to returning researchers

Eight student scientific circles at the Bialystok University of Technology received a total of 200,000 zloty from the Strategic Grants for Student Circles program. The grants, funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education as part of the VIA CARPATIA‑II network, support projects such as a Mega Sumo robot, a Formula Student car, organic‑waste filament for 3D printing and other robotics and sensor developments.

The National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) announced that 17 distinguished scientists who have worked abroad will receive more than 26 million zloty under the Polish Returns program. The prize, increased after a record‑high number of applications, finances permanent positions, start‑up grants and research equipment. NAWA director Dr Wojciech Karczewski said the initiative offers “a real chance for top scientists to return to Poland, bringing international experience and new research perspectives.” The program aims to strengthen Poland’s scientific capacity across universities and institutes nationwide.
