Poland bans 25.5 tons of frozen fish from Faroe Islands

The Chief Inspectorate of Agricultural and Food Quality Standards (IJHARS) in Szczecin has banned the sale of 25.5 tons of frozen blackfish fillets imported from the Faroe Islands. The decision, which was issued with immediate effect, was prompted by labeling errors, including illegible information in the Polish language.

According to Dr. Tomasz Białas, director of the Strategy and Internal Control Office at IJHARS, the inspectorate issued 35 decisions prohibiting the sale of 56 batches of agri-food products from third countries during the first half of 2026. Most frequent bans in that period involved products from Ukraine and China.
