Poland: Benefits and discounts available for pensioners
Pensioners and retirees in Poland can access various discounts and exemptions by presenting a pensioner-retiree ID card. This document, which can be held physically or electronically via the mObywatel app, serves as proof of status for numerous services.
Key benefits include a 37 percent discount on second-class train travel via PKP Intercity, applicable twice per year. In urban areas, local governments often provide specialized senior tickets or free public transport for those over a certain age, typically 70.
Cultural and recreational benefits include reduced entry fees for museums, theaters, cinemas, and sports facilities. Additionally, retirees may benefit from a 50 percent discount on passport fees. Certain seniors may also be exempt from RTV license fees, specifically those aged 75 and older, or those over 60 meeting specific income criteria.
