Poland boosts cash aid for large families and adds monthly supplement for parental leave

The city council of Sosnowiec approved a new resolution that will provide a one‑time payment of 10,000 zł for each third child and every subsequent child, and a 1,000 zł "maluszkowe" for second children and twins. The program, funded from the municipal budget, is set to start on 1 September 2026, with an initial outlay of about 200 k zł and annual financing of roughly 1.5 million zł in later years. Eligibility requires permanent residence in Sosnowiec and possession of a city residency card.

At the national level, Polish law provides a 400 zł monthly supplement for parents on parental leave who meet income thresholds and are entitled to family benefits. The payment can be received for up to 24 months, extended to 36 months for twins and up to 72 months for families with a disabled child. The supplement is paid to the parent, guardian, or legal custodian who personally cares for the child and is not receiving conflicting benefits.
