Poland celebrates European Heritage Days with digital preservation events

As part of the European Heritage Days, various cultural institutions in Poland are hosting events focused on the digitalization and preservation of historical monuments and personal archives.

In Elbląg, the CSE ‘Światowid’ Regional Digitalization Workshop, in collaboration with the Żuławy Museum and other partners, is showcasing the digital documentation of unique local landmarks, including a Mennonite prayer house in Jezioro and a steam pumping station in Różany. The program includes lectures on the importance of these sites and bicycle tours to visit the pumping station.

In Poznań, the State Archive is organizing a session at the Enigma Cipher Centre titled ‘Digital Heritage – How to Document and Preserve History?’. Led by Dr. Julia Wesołowska, the event aims to teach seniors how modern technology can be used to archive family photos, documents, and local histories to ensure they survive for future generations.
