Poland celebrates National Education Day on October 14

In Poland, National Education Day is observed on October 14, 2026. The date commemorates the anniversary of the founding of the Commission of National Education, an 18th-century educational body established by King Stanisław August Poniatowski.

According to the Teacher's Charter, the day is free from traditional didactic lessons, though students may attend school for ceremonial celebrations and school academies.

To mark the occasion, the regional carrier Łódzka Kolej Aglomeracyjna (ŁKA) is offering a special promotion. On October 14, educators holding valid teacher identification—including those from public and non-public preschools, primary and secondary schools, and academic lecturers—can travel on ŁKA trains for a symbolic price of one złoty. Tickets can be purchased via ticket offices, machines, or online, provided passengers present both their ticket and valid identification during inspections.
