Poland chestnut and acorn collection season begins

The seasonal collection of chestnuts and acorns has begun in Poland, offering an opportunity for individuals to supplement their household budgets. Collection points typically operate from September through early November.

Prices for chestnuts vary significantly by region and quality. In the Mazovian Voivodeship, rates have been reported between 0.50 and 0.70 PLN per kilogram, while in West Pomeranian and Greater Poland, prices reach approximately 1 PLN per kilogram. Acorns can be more lucrative, with rates reaching up to 3.50 PLN per kilogram, provided they are fully mature with brown shells.

Several factors influence final earnings, including the freshness and condition of the fruit—buyers require healthy, dry specimens without cracks or mold. Additionally, some collection points impose minimum quantity requirements, such as 200 kg, or require sellers to arrange their own transport. While private online listings may show higher prices ranging from 1.50 to 5 PLN per kilogram, these are unconfirmed transaction prices and require finding individual buyers.
