Poland claims U.S. has provided no new aid to Ukraine since January 2025
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski stated that the United States has not spent a single cent in new aid for Ukraine since January 2025. This claim contradicts statements by U.S. President Donald Trump, who has asserted that Ukraine receives billions of dollars in military equipment.
Data from the Kiel Institute for the World Economy’s ‘Ukraine Support Tracker’ indicates that new American aid has dropped by 99 percent compared to 2024. While the U.S. Congress previously approved approximately 174.2 billion dollars for Ukraine and related security measures, much of the current equipment and funding arriving in Ukraine stems from aid packages approved during the Joe Biden administration.
A significant portion of previously approved funds is directed toward the American defense industry to replenish domestic stockpiles rather than being direct cash transfers to the Ukrainian government. Polish diplomacy has warned that European NATO allies can no longer rely on the United States as a guaranteed financial shield.
