Poland clarifies stance on NATO nuclear sharing

Poland has faced internal debate regarding its stance on nuclear weapons following conflicting statements from defense officials. Deputy Defense Minister Pawel Zalewski initially suggested that while Poland wishes to participate in NATO's nuclear deterrence mechanism, the country does not want nuclear warheads stationed on its territory.

This sparked controversy and confusion regarding Poland's commitment to nuclear sharing initiatives. In response, Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz clarified on social media that Poland remains steadfast in its interest in participating in NATO's nuclear sharing program and is also negotiating to join European nuclear umbrella proposals.
