Poland commemorates 46th anniversary of Solidarity August Agreements

Various locations in Poland are organizing commemorations for the 46th anniversary of the August Agreements, which marked the signing of pacts between the Solidarity trade union and the communist government.

In Wyszków, the St. Wojciech Parish is hosting an exhibition in its lower church featuring unique memorabilia from the era. The collection includes leaflets, posters, folders, and various items used by Solidarity members during street protests, provided by witnesses of the period. The exhibition is scheduled to open on August 30 and will remain open for two weeks.

In Radomsko, ceremonies will take place on August 31, beginning with a Holy Mass at the St. Lambert Collegiate Church. Following the service, participants will lay flowers at a plaque dedicated to Blessed Father Jerzy Popiełuszko, the patron of Solidarity. Additionally, the Municipal Public Library in Radomsko is hosting an exhibition titled ‘August 1980 in the Pages of History’ through August 31.
