Poland commemorates 87th anniversary of the Polish Underground State

Poland is observing the 87th anniversary of the formation of the Polish Underground State, a resistance movement established during World War II to maintain Polish sovereignty.

In Rzeszów, the 31st Light Infantry Battalion of the 3rd Podkarpacka Territorial Defence Forces (WOT) Brigade was honored with the title of “Leading Subunit of the Territorial Defence Forces.” This distinction recognizes the unit's high level of training, professionalism, and operational effectiveness. The battalion's service ethos is linked to the legacy of the Home Army and the underground structures formed on September 27, 1939.

In Garwolin, local authorities and residents are holding commemorative events to honor resistance heroes. The program includes laying flowers at the Home Army monument and a mass for the Fatherland. Additionally, the Municipal and District Public Library is hosting a book exhibition focused on World War II history to educate younger generations about the struggle for independence.
