Poland concludes ‘Safe University’ project to combat academic mobbing
The ‘Safe University’ project, aimed at combating mobbing and discrimination in Polish higher education, has concluded. Organized by the University of Warsaw in cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the initiative involved over 80 universities across Poland to diagnose current academic environments and identify effective anti-discrimination practices.
During a concluding conference at the University of Warsaw, Deputy Minister Maria Mrówczyńska emphasized that there is no place for violence, abuse, or behavior that violates human dignity in Polish higher education, stating that the ‘era of silence and complicity is ending.’ The project was supported by a 970,000 PLN grant from the Ministry and received honorary patronage from the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy and the Chief Labour Inspectorate.
As part of the initiative, the University of Warmia and Mazury was recognized as a winner in a competition for best anti-mobbing and anti-discrimination practices. The competition evaluated various institutions based on support structures, such as the work of ombudsmen and commissions, as well as the availability of psychological support.
