Poland enhances civil defense through training and public safety education
Various emergency services and organizations in Poland are conducting training and educational initiatives to improve civil defense and public safety awareness. Firefighters in regions such as Rumi, Reda, and Łódź have held public demonstrations, technical rescue displays, and workshops to teach residents about first aid, fire prevention, and how to prepare emergency evacuation kits.
In Radzyń Podlaski, the Polish Red Cross conducted workshops focused on crisis response and mutual aid. Additionally, volunteer fire departments (OSP) have participated in large-scale maneuvers, such as simulating forest fires in mountainous terrain, to enhance coordination and resource management during difficult operations.
Despite these efforts, a study by Ariadna for Wirtualna Polska highlights significant gaps in public knowledge regarding emergency signals. The research found that only 41 percent of respondents could correctly identify the sound of an alarm cancellation, and 28 percent were unsure of the meaning of a three-minute modulated siren signal.
