Poland conducts nationwide National Family Training for crisis preparedness

On October 17, 2026, Poland held the National Family Training as part of the Academy of Population Protection and Civil Defense. Initiated by the Ministry of Interior and Administration, the nationwide event aimed to increase public awareness and practical preparedness for various crisis situations.

Across numerous locations, including schools and fire stations, participants practiced recognizing alarm signals, responding to Government Centre for Security (RCB) alerts, and identifying safe shelters. Training focused on creating family emergency plans, preparing evacuation kits, and understanding school safety procedures. New guidelines from the Ministry of Education also emphasized that during alarms, students should remain under school supervision and parents should avoid gathering at school entrances to prevent obstructing emergency services.

Local authorities and emergency services, including the State Fire Service and Volunteer Fire Service, played central roles in conducting workshops. In some regions, such as Podkarpacie and Warmia-Masuria, the training addressed specific concerns like cyber threats and school security. Additionally, local drills in areas like Ochotnica focused on administrative readiness, such as the distribution procedures for potassium iodide tablets.
