Poland confirms new African Swine Fever outbreaks

New outbreaks of African Swine Fever (ASF) have been confirmed in northern Poland, specifically within the Kuyavian-Pomeranian and Pomeranian voivodeships. The Main Inspectorate of Veterinary Medicine reported two recent cases: one in Ostrowite involving 378 pigs and another in Ruszcze involving 18 pigs.

Authorities have initiated immediate livestock culling and farm disinfection procedures. Strict protection and surveillance zones have been established to prevent further transmission of the pathogen. In 2026, the total number of animals culled due to ASF outbreaks in the country has reached nearly 28,000.
