Poland considers driving exam reforms and rising course costs

Driving school costs in Łódź have increased significantly over the last seven years. In 2019, the average cost for a category B course was approximately 1,600 PLN, whereas in 2026, basic training typically ranges from 3,800 PLN to 4,300 PLN. Express training options can exceed 5,000 PLN.

In addition to rising costs, new regulations for driving examinations are being considered in Poland. One proposed change would require candidates who fail three practical driving exams to undergo mandatory retraining. This would involve at least five hours of additional training and passing an internal school exam before being allowed to attempt another official exam at a Voivodeship Road Traffic Center (WORD).

Other potential reforms under discussion include introducing an expiration period for completed driving courses—possibly 12 months—to ensure skills remain current. Other ideas include the digital monitoring of driving lessons and the recording of internal driving school exams.
