Poland considers permanent US military base locations
Poland is preparing for a potential decision from the White House regarding the establishment of a permanent United States military base within its borders. Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz indicated that a final decision could arrive as early as December, following a Pentagon review of troop deployments in Europe.
The proposed facility would serve as a hub for approximately 5,000 soldiers, their families, and supporting personnel. Potential locations identified for the base include Wrocław, Poznań, Bydgoszcz, and Szczecin. The investment is estimated to cost around 15 billion PLN and could also involve moving the servicing and production of Patriot missile systems to Poland.
A recent SW Research poll commissioned by Onet shows that 43% of Polish citizens believe a permanent US base will be established, while 23.1% disagree. The most optimistic demographic regarding the base's creation is the 35 to 49 age group, where 50% of respondents expressed belief in its establishment.
