Poland cracks down on major organized drug trafficking groups

Polish authorities have taken significant actions against organized crime groups involved in large-scale drug production and trafficking.

The District Prosecutor's Office in Ciechanów has filed indictments against eight individuals, including seven men and one woman, for their involvement in a criminal group operating from late 2023 to early 2025. The group was involved in the production and distribution of cocaine, methadone, amphetamine, ecstasy, ketamine, and marijuana. Investigators seized assets exceeding 0.5 million PLN and conducted over 90 searches. Two of the accused were also found in illegal possession of firearms.

In a separate major case, the District Court in Poznań sentenced over 30 people to prison terms ranging from 2 to over 8 years for a massive smuggling operation. Operating between 2014 and 2021 across Poland, the Netherlands, and Spain, the group introduced approximately 3 tons of marijuana, 119 kg of amphetamine, and 14 kg of cocaine into the market, with a black market value estimated at 80 million PLN. The group also managed marijuana plantations in Spain. Convicted individuals were ordered to pay fines and restitution to the Monar Association.
