Poland creates new armoured vehicle plant in Poznań

On 22 June 2026, three key documents were signed in Poznań to establish the Wielkopolskie Zakłady Pancerne Hipolita Cegielskiego (WZPHC), a large defence manufacturing entity. The agreements bring together Wojskowe Zakłady Motoryzacyjne (WZM), H. Cegielski‑Poznań, the liquidated Stomil‑Poznań, the Agency for Industrial Development and the Polish Defence Group (PGZ).

The project aims to combine H. Cegielski’s production capabilities with WZM’s service and repair expertise, creating synergies that will strengthen the companies’ market position and support Poland’s security needs. The new plant will retain the historic H. Cegielski brand and is expected to generate new jobs in the region. A social pact was also signed, committing to maintain current employment levels until the merger is completed and to consult workers on future business strategies.

Minister of State Assets Wojciech Balczun said, “We are opening a new chapter for Poznań, creating development perspective, guaranteeing jobs and building a strong entity for Polish security.” Deputy Minister Konrad Gołota added, “We are building something that will last years, wisely and responsibly.”
