Poland crime updates: Stabbing suspect and cold case arrest

In separate criminal developments in Poland, authorities are addressing a stabbing incident in Rędziny and a long-standing murder case in Gdynia.

A prosecutor in Częstochowa has requested that the court dismiss proceedings against 37-year-old Cezary B. and instead place him in a psychiatric facility. The request follows an incident on October 20, 2025, where the suspect allegedly stabbed a 44-year-old man in the back at a store parking lot. While the suspect admitted to the act, psychiatric experts determined he was not legally responsible for his actions at the time due to a mental illness that impaired his ability to understand the significance of his conduct. He remains in temporary arrest.

In Gdynia, the family of 13-year-old Iza Strzałkowska marked the 15th anniversary of her murder, noting that this year was the first since a suspect, Michał S., was detained. The victim was killed near her home 15 years ago. The suspect, who was 22 at the time of the crime, had lived in the vicinity and had no prior criminal record. The victim's father expressed that while the identity of the suspect is now known, the arrest does not diminish the long-standing pain of the loss.
