Poland: Deadline for agricultural fuel excise refunds approaching

Polish farmers are reminded of the August 31, 2026, deadline to apply for the second round of agricultural fuel excise duty refunds. This refund covers fuel purchased between February 1 and July 31, 2026.

Officials have warned of a common error regarding supporting documentation. To qualify, farmers must provide a valid VAT invoice rather than a simple transaction confirmation from a gas station. For invoices issued via the National e-Invoice System (KSeF), the printed version must include both a QR code and the unique 35-character KSeF number. A printout containing only a QR code is legally considered a transaction confirmation and will lead to a rejection of the refund claim.

However, a transitional regulation remains in effect until the end of 2026, meaning authorities will continue to accept traditional paper VAT invoices issued by fiscal printers, which do not require a QR code or KSeF number.
