Poland deploys AI surveillance system on Belarus border

Poland has deployed an artificial intelligence-based surveillance system, known as ‘Inteligentna Granica’ (Intelligent Border), to monitor its eastern frontier with Belarus. Developed jointly by the Polish Border Guard and the Artificial Intelligence Implementation Center of the Cyberspace Defense Forces, the system integrates data from cameras, drones, and various sensors into a centralized operational interface.

The technology uses the ‘AIRON TACTIC’ platform to automatically recognize objects, analyze behaviors, and flag suspicious activities for human operators. This automation is designed to reduce the cognitive load on personnel and accelerate reaction times during potential border breaches. The AI-generated information can be integrated into existing tactical command systems such as TAK and JASMIN.

Currently operating under ‘Operation Safe Podlasie,’ the system is being tested across a stretch of the border spanning several dozen kilometers. In addition to AI surveillance, the Polish military is also testing various robotic and autonomous systems in the region to bolster security along this NATO frontier.
