Poland deploys military aircraft following Russian drone strikes in Ukraine
Following Russian jet drone strikes on western Ukraine, the Polish military activated defensive measures in Polish airspace on Wednesday morning. The Operational Command of the Armed Forces deployed fighter jets and placed ground-based air defense and radar systems on high alert to secure the border regions.
As a result of the military activity, the airports in Lublin and Rzeszów temporarily suspended flight operations to ensure freedom of movement for military aircraft. The Government Security Centre (RCB) issued emergency alerts to residents in the Lublin and Podkarpackie voivodeships, advising them to remain calm and monitor official updates.
The military confirmed that these actions were preventative and aimed at protecting the airspace near the threatened areas. Following the operation, authorities reported that no violations of Polish airspace were recorded, and the RCB alerts were subsequently lifted.
