Poland diesel excise refund delay amid EU notification dispute
Polish farmers are awaiting a planned increase in the diesel excise duty refund, which is intended to rise from 1.48 PLN to 2.00 PLN per liter. Agriculture Minister Stefan Krajewski stated that the delay is due to the need for coordination with the European Commission, citing the summer holiday period as a contributing factor to the slow procedure.
However, the European Commission has clarified that it has not received any formal notification from Poland regarding this increase. The Commission indicated it is prepared to address the matter once a formal submission is made. The delay affects farmers currently applying for refunds for diesel purchased between February and July 2026.
