Poland to transition to winter time this weekend

On the night of October 24–25, 2026, Poland will transition from summer time to winter time, with clocks being set back from 3:00 to 2:00. This change provides an extra hour of sleep for most residents but creates logistical challenges for specific sectors.

Night-shift workers in industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, and transport will work an additional hour. According to labor law analysts, this constitutes overtime during night hours, entitling employees on standard contracts to a 100 percent overtime bonus plus a night-work allowance. For example, a minimum wage worker can expect approximately 60.07 PLN gross for the extra hour.

Public transport will also face adjustments. Night trains are expected to stop at designated stations for approximately 60 minutes to align with the new schedules and ensure operational safety.

While the current Polish regulation for time changes only covers up to the end of 2026, the government has prepared a draft for the 2027–2031 period. Meanwhile, discussions continue within the European Union regarding the potential permanent abolition of seasonal time changes.
