Poland education reform faces criticism over curriculum volume and pay

The implementation of the ‘Kompas Jutra’ education reform in Poland is facing criticism from experts and labor unions. While the Ministry of National Education intended to reduce the encyclopedic nature of teaching in favor of project-based learning, structural analysis suggests the opposite effect. Professor Roman Leppert noted that the total volume of the new curriculum documentation has actually increased by approximately 20 percent.

Additionally, Waldemar Jakubowski, chairman of the National Education and Upbringing Section of NSZZ ‘Solidarność’, has criticized the Ministry for creating ‘educational chaos.’ He specifically targeted proposed changes to teacher remuneration, arguing that the plan to raise starting salaries via the Teacher's Charter is not a genuine reform. The union is demanding that teacher salaries be linked to the average wage in the enterprise sector to ensure predictability and attract new professionals to the field.
