Poland: Employees may request salary payments in cash

Under the Labor Code, employees in Poland have the right to request that their salary be paid in cash rather than via bank transfer. While bank transfers are the standard method, an employee is not required to have a bank account or agree to a transfer to receive their wages.

To receive cash, an employee must submit a formal request, which can be provided in either paper or electronic format. The employer is legally obligated to respect this request and cannot make employment conditional upon opening an account at a specific bank. The National Labour Inspectorate confirms that employers must comply with such requests.
