Poland endures heat wave as temperatures hit 34 °C and beaches overflow with tourists
A strong high‑pressure ridge is bringing hot air from the south into Central Europe, pushing temperatures across Poland to 32‑34 °C this weekend. Forecasts warn that the heat will be accompanied by severe thunderstorms, especially over the south and west, with strong gusts and heavy rain expected on Saturday and Sunday.
At the same time, the coastal resort of Sopot is experiencing massive crowds on its beaches and promenade. Visitors complain about limited parking, high fees, and cold Baltic water, while some locals welcome the influx of tourists that sustains the town’s economy. The weekend marks the unofficial start of the Polish summer holiday season ahead of the official school break beginning on 26 June.
