Poland enforces strict fines for forest and plant regulation violations

In Poland, strict environmental and forestry regulations carry significant financial penalties for non-compliance. Regarding forest activities, driving or parking on forest roads and fire roads is prohibited unless specifically marked for public traffic. Violators face fines of up to 500 PLN, which can increase to 5,000 PLN in court. Additionally, parking on fire roads that obstructs rescue operations can lead to arrest, fines, or reprimands. Collecting forest products, such as mushrooms, is also prohibited in protected areas, including national parks, nature reserves, and specific forest cultivation zones.

Furthermore, private property owners must adhere to regulations regarding plant removal. A recent case in Mołodiatycz saw a couple fined 7,800 PLN for removing four thuja shrubs without notifying the proper authorities. Even if plants are old or decaying, failure to complete required formalities can result in administrative penalties, with fine amounts often determined by the size of the removed vegetation.
