Poland's fire services add new heavy trucks to fleets

The Polish State Fire Service (Państwowa Straż Pożarna) has taken delivery of 11 new Renault Trucks D16 4×2 heavy vehicles. The 16‑ton chassis are equipped with 8‑ton payload capacity, space for 12 europallets, a 2‑ton Bär Cargolift loading crane, Euro 6 engines, and safety radars covering blind spots. The order, part of the "Usprawnienie Systemu Ratownictwa w Transporcie Kolejowym" programme, cost about 7.8 million PLN (≈580 k PLN per truck) and is intended for units operating near strategic railway lines.

In the volunteer sector, the OSP unit in Pniewo, Bedlno municipality, has received a refurbished MAN heavy fire‑truck formerly used by Łódź's Rescue‑Fire Unit. Built in 2010, the vehicle carries a 5,000‑litre water tank and an autopump delivering up to 3,200 litres per minute, replacing the brigade’s long‑serving Tatra from 1989. Brigade president Krzysztof Trusiński highlighted the upgrade as a major step forward for local fire‑fighting capabilities.
