Poland establishes Center for Combating Disinformation

The Polish government has launched the Center for Combating Disinformation (CWD) to strengthen the state's ability to counter foreign influence operations and information threats. Established by a decree from Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the CWD serves as an advisory body to the Council of Ministers, integrating representatives from various ministries, security services, the military, and non-governmental organizations.

Paweł Olszewski, Deputy Minister of Digital Affairs and head of the CWD, described the center as a platform designed to coordinate information exchange, conduct research into hostile campaign techniques, and provide educational resources. The center's functions include monitoring disinformation, issuing recommendations, and facilitating cooperation between government entities, media, and NGOs.

In preparation for upcoming parliamentary elections, the National Research Institute (NASK) is also intensifying efforts to secure the electoral process. NASK is focusing on monitoring social media to identify and eliminate fake accounts impersonating political candidates. Plans include conducting training for journalists and election committees, as well as establishing dedicated information channels to ensure rapid responses to online threats.
