Poland expands anti‑smog program and launches household heating inspections

Poland’s national “Clean Air” programme, running until 2032, subsidises the replacement of inefficient solid‑fuel stoves and the thermomodernisation of up to 2.5 million single‑family homes. Over one million applications have been received, more than 565 000 heat sources have been replaced and more than 21 billion PLN in grants have been paid. Funding of 40 billion PLN comes from national and EU sources, and the scheme now requires an energy audit before grants are issued.

Local authorities are reinforcing the programme with on‑site inspections. Municipalities such as Zawoja, Wadowice, Sucha Beskidzka and Maków Podhalański are checking that households comply with anti‑smog resolutions, that the type of boiler matches the Centralna Ewidencja Emisyjności Budynków (CEEB) registry, and that waste is not burned. Owners must update CEEB data within 14 days of any change, otherwise fines may be imposed. The inspections also enforce the phase‑out of 3rd‑ and 4th‑class boilers after 2026, aiming to improve air quality and protect public health.
