Poland expands child support assistance programs

The Municipal Social Assistance Center in Morawica will fund school meals for children whose families earn up to 200% of the social‑assistance income threshold (currently 1,646 zł net per person) and meet conditions such as disability, chronic illness, large families or poverty. Applications must be submitted with income proof and other documents, after which a social worker conducts a home interview.

From 1 October 2026 the income limit for receiving benefits from the state Alimony Fund will rise from 1,209 zł to 1,665 zł net per person, an increase of roughly 456 zł. The change, announced by the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy, will affect over 100,000 children who currently rely on the fund, and the “złotówka za złotówkę” rule will keep benefits proportional rather than cutting them off outright. The ministry also signaled possible future annual adjustments tied to minimum wage growth.
