Poland expands defense ties with US Patriot deal and joins global Abrams supply chain

Poland has signed an offset agreement with the United States to procure the Patriot integrated air and missile defence system under the Wisła programme, a deal valued at up to $7.6 billion that aims to modernise the armed forces by 2023.

In parallel, Polish metal‑processing firm PROMOT was admitted to the Global Abrams programme, becoming one of eight Polish suppliers that now produce a total of 52 components for M1 Abrams tanks used by more than ten countries. The move deepens Poland’s role in the worldwide tank supply chain.

Poland also secured a contract with Italian defence contractor Leonardo for four additional M‑346 Master advanced training aircraft, worth over €115 million, with deliveries scheduled through 2020.
