Poland expands deposit system through courier pickups and public recycling machines

New initiatives in Poland are making the return of deposit-based packaging more convenient for consumers. Żabka Jush and Delio have introduced a service where couriers collect bottles and cans during regular deliveries. Available in cities including Warsaw, Wrocław, Kraków, and Katowice, the service allows customers to hand over up to four bags of packaging (up to 60 liters each) for a deposit refund sent directly to their bank account or donated to charity.

Simultaneously, Recyclo is expanding a network of public recycling machines in collaboration with Kaucja.pl. This model aims to complement retail collection points by placing machines in residential areas, near workplaces, or along walking routes. The goal is to integrate the return of bottles and cans into daily routines for those who may not wish to visit a store specifically to return packaging.
