Poland expands free mammography bus programme to new towns

Poland's free breast‑cancer screening initiative continues with mobile mammography units (Mammobusy) visiting additional municipalities. The programme, funded by the National Health Fund (NFZ) and operated by Geneva Trust Polska, offers cost‑free mammograms to women aged 50‑69 without a referral.

Breast cancer remains the most common malignant tumour among Polish women, with about 20,000 new diagnoses and roughly 7,000 deaths each year. Early detection through regular screening can cut mortality in the 50‑69 age group by 25‑30 %. The mobile units travel to both larger cities and small gminas, providing a five‑minute examination that includes two X‑ray images per breast. Upcoming stops include Cedry Wielkie on 26 June 2026 and Ostrołęka on 19 June 2026, with registration available online or by phone.
