Poland advances oncology care through digitalization and hospital investments

Poland is undergoing significant transformations in its oncology sector, characterized by both digital integration and large-scale infrastructure investments. The Ministry of Health is expanding the use of the electronic Diagnostic and Treatment Card (e-DiLO). Starting October 1, primary care physicians and various specialized centers will integrate into this digital system to streamline the oncology fast-track, centralizing patient data via the Internet Patient Account to improve coordination between specialists.

Simultaneously, several regional hospitals are completing or planning major modernization projects. In Sosnowiec, a 31 million PLN investment has upgraded oncology departments with new endoscopy labs and advanced imaging equipment. The Beskid Oncology Center in Bielsko-Biała is preparing a 200.5 million PLN investment to modernize facilities and establish a PET-CT laboratory. In Szczecin, the University Clinical Hospital No. 1 has completed investments in radiotherapy and PET-CT diagnostics, while a hospital in Poznań is undertaking a 21.2 million PLN modernization of its rehabilitation department. Additionally, the Dolnośląskie Oncology Center in Wrocław is designing new spaces to allow transplant patients to maintain visual contact with family during isolation.
