Poland expands railway infrastructure to improve regional connectivity

Poland is advancing significant railway infrastructure projects aimed at improving regional connectivity. Under the Integrated Railway Network (ZSK) plan, travel times between Rzeszów and Warsaw are projected to decrease to two hours. The plan focuses on strengthening the Podkarpackie region by connecting cities such as Stalowa Wola, Tarnobrzeg, Mielec, and Kolbuszowa to major Polish agglomerations and improving access to local airports.

In a separate development, passenger rail services are expected to return to Jastrzębie-Zdrój, which has been the largest city in Poland without rail access since 2001. Following the completion of design documentation by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe, the city aims to restore connections by 2029. This project is intended to allow residents to reach Katowice and other parts of the Silesian agglomeration in less than an hour, supporting local employment and education opportunities.
